Our Team

We have a great group of people making Kangaroo Coffee hop. We take pride in our KC Workplace Culture. Our Baristas pour not only a tasty drink, but also their hearts into their work. It’s reflected in the relationships they foster and community they create. Our Operations and Community Engagement team know the business, literally, inside and out, paying attention to all the details while leading the company forward. Together, we bring out the best in each other and those that count on us for a bit of sunshine (or caffeine) every day.

In addition he has served in leadership board positions for numerous education, environmental and social justice community organizations.

Initially, Doug began his work with Kangaroo Coffee in 2015 as a consultant and then fell in love with the company and the Springs. He assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer and General Instigator in 2016. In his “free time” you’ll find him on the basketball court, golf course or best of all, goofing around with his two remarkable grandchildren while enjoying a fine cup of Kangaroo Coffee.

Vice President of Business Operations

HANNAH SHELTON

Hannah first started at Kangaroo Coffee as a barista in 2013. Due to a love of the company, the staff, and the customers, she advanced through roles as an Assistant Manager, Store Manager, General Manager, Operations Manager to finally where she now serves as Vice President of Business Operations. This path has fostered her understanding of Kangaroo Coffee as a whole and continuously proves to be of great benefit to her current position.

As a Colorado Springs native, Hannah wholeheartedly supports Kangaroo Coffee’s mission to give back to the COS community and build local partnerships. She uses her passion for environmental conservation and restoration, along with her BA in Geography and Environmental Studies, to help Kangaroo Coffee operate more sustainably.

When Hannah is not handling the daily on-goings of Kangaroo Coffee, she explores the world of wine, global current events, local eateries, and boxing; all while protecting her many house plants from her mischievous cat, Stella.

Office & Inventory Manager

KATHERINE DOUGLAS

Katherine joined the Kangaroo Coffee Crew the spring of 2020. As an avid coffee lover, it is a perfect fit and has only contributed to her caffeine dependency. Katherine is from Georgia, but moved to Colorado Springs in 2018. When Katherine is not at Kangaroo Coffee, she is exploring the state of Colorado, painting and playing with her little Chihuahua mix, Piper.

Office & Inventory Assistant

KRISTYN EDWARDS

Kristyn joined the Kangaroo Coffee crew as a barista in the early summer of 2020. Her love for the company, the Roo family she has made, and the appreciation for the involvement in the local community moved her to the position she is in now. Kristyn was born and raised in Mississippi, but moved to the Springs from St. Louis in the summer of 2018. In her free time, she loves doing anything artistic, super nerdy, or to spend quality time with her friends, her cat, and nephew.

New Center Point Store Lead

LILY DIAZ

Lily moved to Colorado Springs from Las Vegas, Nevada in May of 2020 with her partner, and is here to stay. In 2017, after working in retail for some time, she decided to dip her toe into the coffee realm and has been in the field ever since.

To Lily, coffee is more than a yummy potion to get you going in the morning, it’s a vessel that helps her make connections with those that she meets. Nothing brings Lily more joy than to make someone’s day, not only with a warm latte, but with a warm smile as well.

8th Street Store Lead

OLIVIA SNJIDER

Olivia became part of the Kangaroo family at the end of summer 2019. She fell in love with it and was excited to become Store Lead and create a fun, loving team of friends at 8th St. She strives to make everyone’s day better, customers and baristas alike! Olivia loves making and drinking coffee and is so happy to be working at the perfect place to do so! When not at work, Olivia likes hanging out with friends, relaxing, and obsessing over her little dog, Willie.
